ThinkFirst Iowa

Striving to Keep Iowa's Children Injury Free

The ultimate and only goal of ThinkFirst Iowa is to prevent traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries among youth in Iowa. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the largest percentage of these injuries occurs to people between ages 15 and 24. Our programs focus on this high risk population - youth 18 and under. If our program can save just one life or prevent a life-altering injury, we have accomplished our goal.

The cost of prevention versus the cost of traumatic injury is staggering - $7.80 per child for educational programming versus roughly $4 million in costs per person for lifetime care associated with a severe injury.

There simply is no cure for brain or spinal cord injuries. But if just one student hears the ThinkFirst messages and alters his or her behaviors, we have made a difference.

Consider attending a ThinkFirst Iowa program in your district. Come hear our message and support us as we work to keep Iowa's children safe. Call our office at 319-226-2215 or consult our online calendar for dates and location.
