Safe Kids Iowa
Safe Kids Iowa is dedicated to fighting the number one killer of children - unintentional injuries. As part of Safe Kids USA in Washington, D.C., Safe Kids Iowa is a non-profit organization that serves as a resource to parents, caregivers and children on how to prevent unintentional injuries. Blank Children's Hospital serves as the lead organization for Safe Kids Iowa.
Safe Kids Iowa strives to:

Expand the multi-faceted coalition to further impact the reduction of childhood injuries in Iowa.

Promote and support the development of local Safe Kids chapters throughout Iowa.

Stimulate changes in adult and child behavior, products and the environment to reduce the incidence of unintentional childhood injury in Iowa.

Make childhood injury public policy priority for federal, state and local policymakers.

Safe Kids Greater Des Moines
Safe Kids Greater Des Moines was formed in August 1994 to draw upon the diverse energy, expertise and resources of individuals and organizations concerned about children's safety issues throughout the Des Moines area. The group works to carry out programs that reduce unintentional injuries to children age birth through adolescence.
Focus areas for Safe Kids Greater Des Moines include: pedestrian, child passenger, fire, and bicycle (including rollerblades, skateboards and scooters) safety.
Volunteers are always needed to help participate in the planning of injury prevention activities as well as working at Safe Kids events including bike rodeos, car seat safety check-ups and educational presentations at schools and community organizations.
