Kids Helping Kids
We are grateful to have a community that supports Blank Children's Hospital. And that community is made up of some very generous, creative and thoughtful kids. There are many ways kids can help kids in the hospital. Some examples we have seen:
-
Lemonade Stands: Where kids take the money they make from selling lemonade and donate it to Blank Children's Hospital.
-
Book Drives: Where kids get together and collect new (or slightly used) books and donate them to Blank Children's Hospital.
-
Birthday Parties: Instead of the birthday kid receiving the presents, he/she requests the presents be given to Blank Children's Hospital instead - for patients to enjoy!
-
Craft Bags: Where kids get together and put together fun craft bags (with crayons, beads, string, paper, cards, etc.) so that patients at the hospital can have something to do in their rooms.
-
Blankets: Blankets give kids in the hospital comfort and warmth. We have had groups of kids make fleece blankets and give them to the hospital for patients.
-
Greeting Cards: Many times, kids get together and make cards for kids in the hospital. Our patients enjoy the friendly greetings and knowing other kids are thinking about them.
The ideas are endless and we welcome your kindness and creativity. If you have ideas, please give us a call first to make sure it's something we can give patients. We do have some guidelines to work around. Contact the Community Relations department at 515.241.6438.
