Injury Prevention

We are committed to preventing injury in children. Our strategies range from fire prevention and bike safety to child passenger safety and abuse prevention. While not all injuries can be prevented, our goal is to help educate children and adults on ways to protect children from injury.

Ways we do that:

  • Happy Bear program from the Regional Child Protection Center educates more than 9,000 young children every year on how to prevent sexual abuse.
  • Educating parents on how to properly install car seats.
  • Fire Safety House traveling state-wide free of charge in order to help educate children and adults on fire safety and fire prevention. More than 6,000 people are educated by this program each year.
  • Teaching bicycle safety and the importance of wearing properly-fitted helmets.
  • Offering an annual Keeping Kids Safe injury prevention conference for healthcare providers, injury prevention specialists and child care providers.
