We encourage parents and family members to spend as much time as possible with their hospitalized children. A pullout bed is available in each room for rest periods or to spend the night. Respite rooms are available on Blank 5 on an "as needed" basis - please check with your caregiver or social worker. Sleeping accommodations are also available for parents and family at the nearby Ronald McDonald House and The Care Inn.

The Care Inn

The Care Inn, a hospitality house for patients, family members and friends is located at the Inn towner Apartments across the street from Iowa Methodist. Daily and weekly accommodations are available to families of long-term patients. The Care Inn offers moderately priced accommodations with daily and weekly room rates.  Rooms include maid service, stove and refrigerator and coin-operated laundry facilities.  Security escorts are available to and from the hospital 24-hours a day.  Rooms are not accessible to persons using a wheelchair, however, there is accessible lodging near the hospital.  

Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for parents and families with hospitalized children. Each family has a bedroom and shares living and dining facilities with other families staying at the house. The Ronald McDonald house is located at 15th and Pleasant Streets, within walking distance from Blank Children's. The fee is modest and based on ability to pay. Call 515.243.2111 for more information.
