Endocrinology
The endocrinology and diabetes team at Blank Children's Hospital provides care for children and teens with diabetes and other endocrine system problems, such as puberty, growth and thyroid disorders. We believe in caring for your child while helping you learn how best to manage your child's condition. Our team is experienced in caring for growing children, and includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, certified diabetes educators, dietitians and social workers. We work closely with you and your child's primary care provider to help your child thrive.
We are one of a few programs dedicated to pediatric diabetes across the state. Our pediatric diabetes program is accredited by the American Diabetes Association. In addition to our clinic in Des Moines, we also provide an outreach clinic at McFarland Clinic in Ames.
Our Providers
Your Child's First Clinic Visit
Your child's first visit at the Blank Children's Endocrinology Clinic will probably be the longest visit since you may see multiple healthcare providers. We ask that you arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for your child's appointment to complete the registration process. Please plan to be at the clinic for two to three hours.
Insurance
Prior approvals from your child's primary provider and insurance plan may be necessary before each visit.
